The Uel Wade Music Scholarship Competition
Saturday, May 28, 2022, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
$10
We are pleased to welcome back the Uel Wade Scholarship competition where seven area teenagers will perform classical music in pursuit of funds to put toward their continuing music education.
Last year (sans Academy and sans audience), $11,000 was split between two young women. The first-prize winner, oboist Anna Ryu won $6,000.
This year, seven high school musicians from five local counties will vie for the green. Anna (as guest artist) will play while the panel of judges confers, after which the winner(s) will be announced.
The 2022 finalists:
- Charlie Beauregard, bassoon
- Eujeong Choi, cello
- Ian Gu, cello
- William Lauricella, piano
- Michael Lowry, piano
- Yu-Heng Wang, viola
- Joe Weinberg, double bass
Unless they have already donated, attendees are asked to contribute $10, which will be immediately added to this year’s award. Since seating is limited, please reserve at 518-392-4697 or at [email protected].
For twenty years, prior to Covid, the Scholarship finals have been hosted by the Academy. This year, a live audience is once again invited there to hear some very accomplished young musicians. Come and hear some amazing kids play some very hard music!
The Academy has installed multiple Blueair HealthProtect 7470 air purifiers, vaccinations (honor system) and masks are required.
