The Lucky 5
Saturday, May 28, 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
This concert was originally scheduled to be held outdoors, but due to technical issues beyond our control, it will be held indoors at the Spencertown Academy.
The Lucky 5 is a hard-swinging jazz band that blends swing and gypsy jazz to create a unique, foot-stomping blend of music. Included with your ticket is an optional swing dance lesson by Jason Fenton at 7:00pm prior to the concert. General Admission $20, Members $15
The Lucky 5 is comprised of Kip Beacco on guitar/vocals, Jonathan Talbot on violin/vocals, Carolyn Dufraine on vocals/trombone, Matt Downing on bass/vocals, and Tom Parker on drums. All highly seasoned touring musicians, the band members have been part of The Hunger Mountain Boys, Lauren Ambrose & The Leisure Class, and traveled, performed, and recorded with artists such as Neko Case, Iris Dement, Bobby Previte, Del McCoury, and Jim Lauderdale, just to name a few.
Jason Fenton is a dance instructor/choreographer/performer at The Arts Center of the Capital Region in Troy and an event organizer for Albany Swing Dancing.
Roots & Shoots is a concerts series that showcases artists who reach back to earlier traditions in music (Americana, jazz, blues, rock, and world music) for inspiration, while incorporating more recent forms and influences of the present.
Academy has installed multiple Blueair HealthProtect 7470 air purifiers, and we will have limited seating in the auditorium. Currently, masks are recommended but not required. However, we will continue to monitor the situation in Columbia County closely and make any adjustments accordingly.
This program is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
