Current and Upcoming Events
Our signature annual events are held each year to raise vital funds for the Academy’s program and operating budgets. The events are organized and staffed primarily by volunteers.
Held annually, this mid-winter moveable feast is one of our oldest and most loved events. The evening traditionally begins with festive drinks and hors d’oeuvres at the Academy, with guests moving on to one of more than a dozen intimate dinners hosted by friends of the Academy. It’s the perfect antidote to winter and a great way to support Spencertown Academy Arts Center.
We went “To Go” and Virtual in 2021 with abundant and delicious hors d’oeuvres & dinner packed to take home. Followed by a festive evening on Zoom with MC Monk Shane-Lydon, a fine art raffle and a specially recorded blue concert by former Spencertown resident Cathy Grier.
We have made the difficult decision to cancel Revels for 2022. The pandemic has curtailed our plans to host this event in person once again. Here’s to 2023!
Hidden Gardens is one of three major annual fundraising events the Academy hosts, usually on the 3rd weekend in June. For 2021, we planned an alternative hybrid version of this event with an online Garden Lecture Series from March through September, a festive and well attended Twilight in the Garden Cocktail party held on the grounds of the Austerlitz Historical Society in June, as well as an in-person garden tour of private gardens and the Market on the Green in late August.
This year, we are back on track to celebrate the Art of the Garden in June:
June 4 -Twilight in the Garden Party
June 11 – Hidden Gardens Tour and Market on the Green
June 18 – Garden lecture
Festival of Books
Do not take the Festival of Books off your calendar! This beloved annual fundraiser is back on our schedule for this Labor Day weekend. We anticipate being on site this year, selling books, hosting distinguished authors and providing our famous no-alarm vegetarian chili at the Cookbook Café. Stay tuned for further information, as our program develops.
