How the Naturalistic Planting Movement is changing American gardens.
This illustrated presentation will focus on key concepts behind the Naturalistic Planting Movement that are applicable to any setting, with particular emphasis on how these ideas can relate to the scale and limitations of the average home gardener.
Join the us for fun and good food at the Academy’s traditional Twilight in the Garden Party! New friends meet and old ones greet at this festive start to the summer season. Cocktails, sparkling beverages, hors d’oeuvres, and a scrumptious light supper are served. A silent auction will feature multiple garden related finds including a delivered truckload of organic garden mulch. Directions will be sent once tickets are purchased. Tickets are $90 in advance, $110 at the door.
The Market on the Green is a lovely outdoor marketplace held on the Spencertown village green in conjunction with the Hidden Gardens Tour. The market will showcase more than 20 vendors offering plants, home and garden furnishings, birdhouses, antiques, garden books, and expert garden advice, plus shoppers will find bargains on choice garden items and accessories at the Academy’s White Elephant Booth. The centerpiece of the Hidden Gardens weekend is the self-guided tour celebrating the art of the garden on Saturday, June 20. The tour showcases private gardens in Columbia County. A variety of garden styles will be on display on the tour. The tour will take place rain or shine.
