Trust Your Feet – A tutorial on practicing balance

Tai Chi practice helps us achieve balance. It stabilizes our feet on the ground and contributes to proper body alignment from foot to crown of the head. It teaches us how to be simultaneously upright and relaxed, and how to move through our days feeling secure and safe, even on irregular surfaces.
In this tutorial, we’ll explore balance as a relearned skill, assessing how we stand and walk. We’ll learn to anticipate when we are losing our balance and how we might regain it. Our goal is to move with intention and a sense of control.
Anyone can participate. You need only comfortable clothes and a pair of socks.
Maximum of 15 participants.

Fran Snyder serves as the president of the board of directors of the New York School of Tai Chi Chuan. She’s a Tai Chi Foundation certified tai chi instructor and teaches in New York City and in Chatham.
