The Rooted Voyageurs present The Tempest by William Shakespeare

This event, originally scheduled for Friday, June 21, has been rescheduled to Thursday, July 11.

The Spencertown Academy is pleased to sponsor this production of The Tempest at the Spencertown Town Park performed by The Rooted Voyageurs.

What does it take to forgive? How far would a parent go to secure the safety and happiness of their child? Would you curl up next to a four-legged fish-smelling monster? Delve into these questions and more with Shakespeare’s captivating masterpiece The Tempest! When Prospero, a banished duke wielding powerful magical abilities, glimpses a ship carrying the royal family, he seizes the chance to reshape the course of his and his child Miranda’s life. Filled with magic, shipwrecks, and clowns, Shakespeare’s final play is a plea for communal redemption.

The Rooted Voyageurs’ family-friendly bare-bones production of The Tempest is abridged and will run 90 minutes. The performance is donation based, you can pay as much as you want or nothing at all. Bring your own seating and a picnic!

The Rooted Voyageurs is a theater company, founded by Devante Owens (Artistic Director) and Zoe Wohlfeld (Managing Producer), whose mission is to celebrate community through live performance.

This program is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
