Pastels are the purest form of artist color, made from pure pigment with only enough binder to allow them to be formed into useable sticks. This media allows artists a choice of many subtle color variations. Pastel techniques are challenging since the medium is mixed and blended directly on the working surface.
Our five guest pastelists will be displaying their mastery of this difficult and exciting medium. The exhibit features styles spanning Abstraction, Impressionism and Realism. Themes include unique and familiar still-lifes, stunning rural and urban landscapes, and the human form represented by swinging jazz musicians moving in a world of vivid color.
