Opening Reception: Gee’s Bend: The Next Generation- SOLD OUT!

Meet the quilters and join the Academy Board and our generous sponsors in welcoming the Gee’s Bend quilters to Spencertown at an exclusive reception ahead of the public opening of the exhibitions on July 12. A selection of quilts made by Legacy quilter Lola Pettway will be displayed by her son Willie Pettway, who will discuss life in Gee’s Bend and the importance of these quilts to their daily lives. Also, courtesy of Carrie Haddad Gallery, meet the artist ransome, known for his paintings of Gee’s Bend women. You will also have the opportunity to preview the exhibition in our galleries. Wine and snacks will be served. Limited tickets are available for this very special event.
