Mixed Media Art Workshop with Jackie Rogers

An event every 2 days that begins at 11:00 am, repeating until Friday, February 19, 2021
Winter Break Session for ages 11 to 17, limited to 15 participants. $45 for this three session workshop or $20 each for Session 1 (charcoal) and/or Session 2 (collage).
Session 3 is only available with participation in the first 2 sessions as it is a culmination of learned techniques. Registration is required.
This is a virtual series of three related art classes. We’ll explore different materials and techniques – charcoal for the first session, collage/ assorted papers for the second session, and in the third session, other media you may already own, such as pastels, markers, crayons or paints. This final class will combine techniques, and possibly some of the work, used in the first and second sessions. Participants will engage in a playful, experimental approach using suggested themes or subject matter of your choice.
- Monday – Drawing with charcoal.
Suggested materials: Charcoal sticks or pencils; eraser; paper towels or rags for clean-up. Large-format newsprint
- Wednesday – Collage construction.
Suggested materials: Large, heavier surface – e.g. cardboard (recycle a big box?) or heavy paper; glue stick, scissors. Any found/recycled materials, such as construction paper, tissue paper, paper towel, packing material, wallpaper, gift wrap, paper bags, cards, magazines, maps, fabric, photos. And things from nature such as seeds, grass and leaves, feathers!
- Friday – Mixed media
Combination of charcoal drawing, collage, and any other material you choose, such as paint, colored pencil, pastel, chalk, markers, etc.
