Tai chi is an ancient Chinese martial art now recognized for its benefits to physical and mental health. With regular practice, tai chi’s fluid and controlled movements improve balance, build physical strength and endurance, and encourage relaxation of the body and calmness of the mind.
This class is for beginners. The pace is slow and tranquil. Demonstrations are clear and easy to follow. Anyone can participate. Wear comfortable clothes and a pair of warm socks.
Masks are required to contribute a sense of safety to all. The auditorium is equipped with PureBlue air purifiers.
Fran Snyder is on the faculty of the New York School of Tai Chi Chuan, an affiliate of the Tai Chi Foundation, which trains teachers in the Yang style tai chi short form, brought to the United States in the early 1970s by Professor Cheng Man Ch’ing. Fran teaches in New York City and in Chatham.
