Heavenly Echoes Gospel Band

We are pleased to present, in collaboration with the Capital Region Blues Network, The Heavenly Echoes Gospel Band, founded by the late Deacon James Edmonds in 1965 in Albany, NY. With roots in the Stax/Volt style of Southern Soul, they perform both classic and contemporary gospel music—a mix of originals, well-known traditional spirituals and hymns, covers of songs that crossed over into pop music (such as the Staple Singers’ “I’ll Take You There”), and contemporary quartet-style songs that are gospel standards in the church community.
“The Heavenly Echoes Gospel Band has a venerable history of performing at churches, community events, fundraisers, and causes for social justice throughout the Capital Region,” said Richard Green, president of CRBN and member of the Academy Music Committee. “We’re delighted to bring them to Spencertown and look forward to a joyful and uplifting concert.”
This program is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
