This six-week series uses Tai Chi movements and postures as practical tools for building leg strength and cultivating balance. Strength and balance together increase our sense of being connected to the ground. Students will learn to feel the difference between balanced and unbalanced, tensed and relaxed, unsteady and sure-footed. Over the six weeks of class, we will progress from standing to feeling how our weight shifts from foot to foot, and while building leg strength advance toward a feeling of security as we move. Demonstrations are clear and easy to follow. Movements are practiced at a slow and even speed that promotes relaxation and calmness.
This class is for anyone wanting to improve balance. It does not teach the Tai Chi form.
