Tai chi is a Chinese martial art now recognized for its benefits to physical and mental health. With regular practice, tai chi’s fluid and controlled movements improve balance, build physical strength and endurance, and encourage relaxation of the body and calmness of the mind.
This class is for beginners. Students will learn Prof. Cheng Man-Ch’ing’s Yang style short form at a slow and tranquil pace. Demonstrations are clear and easy to follow. Class is capped at 12 persons, allowing individual attention for each student. Students who miss a class are invited to work privately with Fran.
Fran Snyder is on the faculty and is president of the board of directors of the New York School of Tai Chi Chuan. She is a Tai Chi Foundation certified tai chi instructor teaching in New York City and in Chatham. This is her fifth tai chi class at the Spencertown Academy.
