Spencertown Academy Presents Amy Ryan Band and Dusty Wright Four Concert on November 1
Spencertown, New York–Spencertown Academy Roots & Shoots Concerts Series presents the Amy Ryan Band and the Dusty Wright Four on Saturday, November 1, 7:30 pm at the Academy’s Blanche Grubin Auditorium. General admission tickets ($25 public, $20 Academy members) are available via www.spencertownacademy.org.
“We are excited to host these two fine local bands in one evening,” says Wayne Greene, co-chair of the Academy Music Committee. “The Amy Ryan Band will knock you out with their powerful blues repertoire. Dusty Wright and his trio will charm you with an eclectic set of Americana, folk, and country-rock with a touch of psychedelia—and the evening will also serve as the record release party for Dusty’s twelfth album!”
Over the past decade, the Amy Ryan Band, featuring Amy Ryan (lead vocals and guitar), Richard Green (guitar and vocals), Ed Stein (keyboards), Ralph Bowman (bass), and Mark McKay (drums), has gained an enthusiastic following for their high-energy blend of blues, soul, and funk. The band’s latest album, “Brighter and Brighter,” reached #8 on the Roots Music Report’s Blues Album chart and #1 on RMR’s Soul Blues Album chart. They recently won the Capital Region Blues Network (CRBN) Band Challenge and will represent CRBN at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN, next year.
Singer-songwriter Dusty Wright’s new album, “Maximus Americanus” (PetRock, 2025) explores love, life, and death. In addition to his previous 11 albums, Wright has released a slew of folk/Americana cover songs, among them Donovan’s “Mellow Yellow,” Johnny Cash’s “Long Black Veil,” The Grateful Dead’s “Friend of the Devil,” and, most recently, Lucinda William’s “Essence.” His long-time trio will join him on stage at Spencertown Academy, including lead guitarist Jonathan K. Bendis, bassist Kevin Mackall, and drummer Pete DeMeo. He resides in New York City and New Concord, NY.
This program is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
