Spencertown Academy Presents Laura Anglade Quartet, Vintage Jazz Concert, Friday, September 22
Spencertown, New York–Spencertown Academy presents a jazz concert by the Laura Anglade Quartet on Friday, September 22 at 8:00pm at the Academy’s newly christened Blanche Grubin Auditorium. The concert will feature vintage jazz from Broadway, the Great American Songbook, and Tin Pan Alley, along with classic French Chanson. General admission tickets ($30 public, $25 Academy members) are available via www.spencertownacademy.org.
“There will come a time when the Spencertown community will look back and say, ‘We saw them first.’ French-American jazz vocalist Laura Anglade and the Ben Rosenblum Trio are rising fast,” says Gerald Seligman, member of the Academy’s Music Committee.
Anglade’s voice is reminiscent of the great traditional vocal stylists of the 20th century, but is uniquely her own. As she digs emotionally and eloquently into a lyric, her storytelling abilities portray a soul beyond her years. Her albums include “I’ve Got Just About Everything” (Justin Time Records, 2019) and “Venez Donc Chez Moi” (Justin Time Records, 2022). She leads an active international touring schedule and has performed at such prestigious venues as Olympia (Paris), Royal Festival Hall (London), Town Hall (New York City), the Ace Theatre Hotel (Los Angeles), and the main stage at the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal. She opened for Gregory Porter at the Victoria Jazz Festival (summer 2022), and Melody Gardot (fall 2022), joining her across the east and west coasts of the US and Europe. She is currently based in Toronto.
At Spencertown Academy, Anglade will perform with New York City jazz pianist and accordionist Ben Rosenblum’s trio. Rosenblum has toured extensively throughout the United States and internationally in Canada, Europe, and Japan, performing at such venerable venues as the Appel Room at Lincoln Center, Kuumbwa Jazz Center, Ravinia, Himawari-No-Sato Concert Hall in Yokohama, Bird’s Eye in Basel, and the Library of Congress. His musical interests also extend beyond jazz to include work in numerous world music scenes, including musical styles from Brazil, Peru, Croatia, Bulgaria, India, Ireland, Jewish traditions and more.
