Submission Guidelines for the 2016 Fall Regional Juried Show

Dates: October 15-November 13, 2016

Deadline: August 8, 2016

Eligibility: Submissions will be accepted from residents of Columbia County, NY and the following surrounding counties: Rensselaer, Albany, Schenectady, Ulster, Dutchess and Greene in NY, Litchfield and Fairfield in CT, and Berkshire in MA.

Fees: $25 per person for Academy Members, $35 per person for non-members. Note: Academy Membership includes the opportunity to show one piece of artwork in the Members Only Gallery Show: December 9 – December 18, 2016

Guest Juror: Nicole Hayes is Curator of The Fields Sculpture Park and Gallery at Omi International Arts Center in Ghent, NY.

Awards: The guest juror will curate the show and bestow First, Second and Honorable Mention Places before the Opening. The First Place winner will be awarded participation in a two-person show in the Fall of 2017 along with the First Place winner of the 2017 Juried Photography Show.

Artwork: 2-D pieces must measure no larger than 30 inches in any direction, unframed. 3-D art must be light enough for one person to handle and be able to be hung on the wall or displayed on a shelf provided by the artist.

Entries: Up to 3 images may be submitted in any media except photography, fine craft or computer-generated art. No reproductions or giclees will be considered. Note: A Regional Juried Photography Show will be held in July of 2017. Fine crafts may be submitted for inclusion in the Handmade Holiday Show in November 2016 to moc.y1558387063medac1558387063anwot1558387063recne1558387063ps@hh1558387063.

Entry Requirements: All entries must be submitted electronically, email your images as attachments. Submitted images must not include matting or frame. Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Judging will be done entirely from JPEGs. No other formats will be accepted. JPEGs must be 72 dpi, they should be at least 600 pixels but not greater than 1200 pixels in either direction. Maximum file size for any individual image is 1 MB. The size given for works should be the unframed size. *Height must be given before width regardless of whether the work is a vertical or a horizontal. Your payment will serve as your acceptance of the terms and conditions stated in this prospectus. A confirmation email will be sent when your entry is received.

Image Labeling: JPEG images MUST BE labeled as follows:
LAST Name_FIRST Name_Image number
Include in an attached Word Document the following:
Artist Name, Phone number, Mailing address, Email address, and
a thumbnail of each submitted work labeled with Title, Medium, Unframed Size and Price.
Files mislabeled or lacking the artist’s name will not be viewed by the juror.

If Accepted for the Show: Selected artwork MUST be professionally presented, wired for hanging and display-ready. No saw tooth hangers accepted. Artworks will be hung on walls only. 3-D art must be light enough for one person to handle and be able to be hung on the wall or displayed on a shelf. Work not delivered in this condition will not be hung. All accepted work must be for sale and remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition.

Selected artists will be notified of drop off and pick up dates. All artists are required to drop off and pick up their work on the dates posted. If artists cannot pick up their work, they should make arrangements for someone else to do so. There is no storage available when the show ends.

Commission: The Academy retains a 35% commission.
