The
sixth annual Festival of Books at Spencertown
Academy Arts Center is a celebration of
books and reading for the whole community.
For three days in early September, just as
the leaves begin to turn, we welcome dozens
of outstanding writers and poets and nearly
2,000 readers and book-lovers to our 1847
schoolhouse in rural Columbia County,
presenting thought-provoking literary
programs to an enthusiastic and engaged
community of readers.
The 2011 Festival of Books
takes place September 3-5.
The Festival
features panel discussions, readings, and
book signings by nationally known and local
authors, a book-themed gallery exhibition,
children’s events - including a visit from
favorite storybook characters, the Cookbook
Cafe, and more. Best of all, all programs
have free admission.

At the heart of the Festival
is a giant book sale featuring over 10,000
new and gently used books in every category
including contemporary and classic fiction,
mystery, biography, history, and politics,
an extensive collection of art books, as
well as cookbooks and gardening titles.
There's also a special Kid's Corner for
young readers and a media rack full of CDs
and audio books.
All books are carefully edited, sorted, and
displayed for easy browsing; the stock is
replenished continuously throughout the
sale. Best of all, everything is very
affordable priced, with most titles just $1
to $5.
Proceeds from the Festival of Books help to
support artsVOYAGE, Spencertown
Academy's extensive arts-in-education
partnership with local public schools. |
